Name of creator
Fairweather and Associates, barristers, of Saint John, New Brunswick inherited clients and records from lawyers in earlier partnerships. G. C. Coster and H. A. Brittain were the original partners. After Coster died, J. H. A. L. Fairweather joined Brittain, who himself died on 4 July 1915. When J. H. A. L. Fairweather joined the army in 1916, his brother P. R. L. Fairweather maintained the practice until his brother returned after being wounded in 1918. J. H. A. L. Fairweather was treasurer of the Anglican Diocesan Synod of Fredericton, 1910-1919. H. E. Puddington, who was also a member of the firm, served as treasurer while Fairweather was overseas.
This fonds was originally part of the Anglican Diocesan Synod papers presented by the Bishop of Fredericton in 1971 but was separated in 1973. It appears that the Fairweather and Associates records were sent to the diocese in error with records created by Fairweather in his position as treasurer of the Diocesan Synod.
