Roosevelt Campobello International Park Commission

This fonds consists of the administrative records of the Roosevelt Campobello International Park Commission, dating from 1964. It includes correspondence, minutes of meetings, the superintendent's monthly reports, the executive secretary's reports, reports and proposals relating to various projects and operations, brochures, newsletters, annual reports, annual financial statements, account books, agreements and other legal records, employee records, fire insurance records, and documents pertaining to the Mulholland Point lighthouse.

Also included are a number of floor plans, including several of the cottage and information center; historical notes on Campobello Island compiled by Mary W. Gallagher; and a copy of the 1964 international agreement establishing the park. There are also video tape recordings, including one or more of the park, the Roosevelt cottage, and the outer islands.

Item is a binder which on the cover reads: “Canadian National Livestock Records – Private Record”, and which on the inside contains items pertaining to John Alward’s raising of foxes. The content includes log sheets describing foxes owned by John Alward, extra copies of the log sheets that would have been filled out for each fox, an envelope from the Canadian National Silver Fox Breeders’ Association Head Office in Summerside, PEI, marketing agreements, etc. A key to unlock the binder to add additional sheets is also included.

Newspaper Article by Willard Wry

Item is a newspaper article written by John Willard Wry for the Sackville Tribune on June 10, 1937. The article is entitled, “Describes the “Wet Summer” of 53 Years Ago”, and subtitled, “Mr. Willard Wry Tells of the Difficulties Experienced by Farmers Through Adverse Weather Conditions”.

Postcard Album

Series contains 86 postcards placed in an album in no particular order. The dated postcards range from 1906 to 1913, and were primarily addressed to Mrs. Walter I. Dixon [Jane Gillis], and also to Mr. Walter I. Dixon and Raymond Dixon. Postcards were sent from a number of relatives and friends. A number of the postcards depict locations in Canada as well as the United States. Most of the postcards contain messages.

This collection contains documents related to a pipeline project by the Maritimes and Northeast Pipeline, which would bring natural gas from Sable Island to the Saint John region, as well as the Charlotte County region through a lateral addition that would extend south of Lake Utopia. Contains newspaper articles on the project, as well as articles by Mike Whalen representing the Maritimes and Northeast Pipeline and answering questions. Also included are announcements of open houses and informational documents, pamphlets, and booklets. These informational documents discuss both the Maritimes and Northeast Pipeline Project itself, as well as pipelines and natural gas in general.

This collection contains books which were published monthly titled “Notices to Mariners for Foreign-Going Ships Monthly Summary”. These were publications meant to inform sailors voyaging to foreign ports from London about important recent developments in the world of navigation, such as changes happening at foreign ports, potential hazards, and new navigation charts and books which have been published.

Pagan Point Nature Preserve

This collection contains a flyer and articles related to the opening of Pagan Point Nature Preserve in St. Andrews, New Brunswick. A popular area for walks located on the south-eastern shore of St. Andrews which looks out over the Passamaquoddy Bay, it contains a wooded area, a salt marsh, and a sandy beach. In the year 2000 the land was sold for development, but the new owners separated a portion of the land for residential use and donated 30 acres to the Nature Trust of New Brunswick Inc. Pagan Point is notable for the ecological significance of its salt marshes, as well as for archaeological findings related to the Passamaquoddy Tribe, for which the area is also designated a Provincial Historic Site.
