Gabriel DeVeber, son of Colonel Gabriel DeVeber, was the high sheriff of Sunbury County, New Brunswick. He married Margaret Hubbard and had four children: Gabriel; William Edwin Nelson, merchant and ship owner; Nathaniel Hubbard, high sheriff of Queens County; and Leverett Hubbard.

Leverett Hubbard DeVeber (1790-1876) came to Saint John, New Brunswick, at fifteen as a clerk for James Codner, a wine merchant, and was subsequently in business for himself with Richard Sands. He then severed the ties with Sands and conducted a mercantile and banking business first alone then with his two sons. In 1818, Leverett married Margaret Ann Hubbard (d.1866), daughter of William Hubbard. He was a magistrate for many years and church warden of Trinity Church and St. John's. His children were: Richard S. (1819-1888), a successor in his father's business; Nelson (1821-1854), a barrister in Saint John; Gabriella, married Gabriel DeVeber, son of the sheriff of Queens County and a barrister of Gagetown; William Hubbard (1824); Leverett Hubbard (1825), who went to Australia then returned to work in his father's business; George Canning (1827) worked in his father's office; J.S. Boies (1829) a member of the firm DeVeber & Sons and a federal MP and Mary Boies (1831) married R.P. Star.

William Hubbard DeVeber graduated from King's College in 1843. He was ordained deacon by Bishop Medley in 1847 and priest and missionary at Upham, Kings County, and St. Martins in 1848. In 1859 became rector of St. Paul's Church, Portland. In 1871 he was appointed canon of Christ's Church Cathedral in Fredericton. He married Mary E. Paddock of Saint John in 1854 and had five children: Arthur W. (1856-1860); Herbert (1859); and William Herbert (1862), who married Harriet M. Mathers.
