This fonds consists of a single ledger from the R. Chestnut Canoe Company for the time period 1904 - 1908. It records in considerable detail the business transactions of the fledgling company. It reflects not only the volume of their business and the variety of products they produced but also the far-flung market they served, stretching from Newfoundland to British Columbia and extending into the United States.

This fonds consists of two original poems entitled, “Canada, 1967” and “The Maple Leaf Flag”, along with a a letter from Clarence J. Clarke to then Premier Louis J. Robichaud offering the poems for use in the lobby of the Centennial Building.

Colter family

The fonds contains primarily the business records of Alexander Colter and his son, George Colter. There are bonds received and issued, mortgages, election clippings, bank balances, commercial and legal records, and personal letters, including a few from George's son, Ashley. There are some small notebooks containing miscellaneous accounts, a surveyor's notes and diary entries. There is also a set of McKillop's "Commercial and Legal Record," a circular published weekly in Saint John from 1894-1896. An account book for an unknown business concern, probably a sawmill, dated 1829-1845, is also included.
