Lillian Agnes O'Brien was born in Westville, Pictou County, Nova Scotia on 13 April 1930. She was the daughter of William O’Brien (1874-1949) and Marie “Maggie” Madeleine Derapes (1889-1968) who were married 24 February 1914. She was educated in local public schools and entered training at St. Martha’s School of Nursing in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. She graduated receiving her R.N. in 1952. Thereafter, she worked as a nurse for the next 40 years serving hospitals in the following places: -
Portage la Prairie, Manitoba
Truro, Nova Scotia at the Colchester County Hospital

She was married to Joseph “Thaddy” Brine (1922-2003) on 2 August 1954 in Westville, Pictou County, Nova Scotia. The couple made their home in Moncton, New Brunswick and had two daughters: Patricia and Darlene. Lillian Brine died on 23 February 2014. She is buried at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens in Moncton, NB.
