History

The Agricultural Museum of New Brunswick was founded by members of our agricultural community to let others know about our province’s farming history and pride in its rural roots. Our campus consists of a main building, a Blacksmith’s Shop, a Railway Gate House and the former Apohaqui Train Station. We have an interesting Dairy Display that hosts a most unusual artifact; a calf, born with 1 head, 2 bodies and 7 legs! Hundreds of artifacts and documents have been gathered over the years, many with an interesting history or story to share. Annually, on the May long weekend, we host The Antique Power Show, a wonderful display of old time engines and tractors.

In the Fall, we end our season with Harvest Days, a day when we take artifacts out of the Museum and operate them for the public to view. We demonstrate threshing grain, churning butter and the making of apple cider, to name but a few.

The Agricultural Museum is open in the summer season only, running from Canada Day to Labour Day weekend. We welcome visitors to our to tour our displays of agricultural equipment, view our antique rural home settings, visit the Blacksmith’s Shop and look back at our old time school room. Individual or group tours of the Agricultural Museum of New Brunswick are available.
