Morrison, Kenneth Franklin

Kenneth Franklin Morrison enlisted with the Canadian Forces in 1940, he was posted to the 4th Canadian Motorcycle Regiment, 8th NBH, at Camp Sussex in 1941. His service number was G359. He traveled overseas with the regiment upon their deployment. He was berthed on Ship No. B61. At this time he was a Sergeant. He was discharged in 1945.

Molloy, Ellen

Ellen Molloy is the president of the Cody's Women's Institute. This Institute was founded in 1914 by a group of local woman. The woman assisted with the war effort in both the First and Second World Wars by sending soldiers care packages. In 2007, the ladies of the institute got together to publish a book of local war veterans who had served in the First and Second War. They compiled photographs and letters sent from the men to the Institute.

Milberry, Lester Allen

Lester Milberry was born 5th January 1926 in the Province of Nova Scotia. He served during the Second world War with the 8th New Brunswick Hussars. During that time, he was awarded the Italy star and Campaign Star. He also was attached as a driver with a British Armoured regiment. He continued his service with the 8th Canadian Hussars RECCE squadron in Germany, Cyprus, and as RSM in Egypt. He was the a member of the Guidon party when His Excellency, the right Honourable Governor General Vanier presented the 8th Canadian Hussars with their Guidon in 1966. Milberry went on to serve with the Royal Canadian Dragoons, retiring as Regimental Sergeant Major. He died in the Pembroke hospital in 1992.

McQuinn, Warren

Warren McQuinn was with the 43rd Squadron . It is not known if he was a Soldier in training or there as a Civilian . When he returned to Sussex he owned and operated WC McQuinn's Garage .

McLeod, Robert

Lieutenant Colonel McLeod passed away 2007 at the age of 87 years. Bob McLeod was born and raised in Penobsquis New Brunswick, graduated from the Sussex High School, University of New Brunswick and was commissioned a Lieutenant in the Canadian Officers Training Corps. In April 1941 he joined the 8th Princess Louise's New Brunswick Hussars and went overseas with the Regiment in October 1941. While in England, the 8th NB Hussars gained extensive tank and battle training , Bob was promoted to Captain and Tank Commander. In November 1943 the Regiment. as part of the 5th Armoured Brigade, was shipped to North Africa then soon to Naples,Italy. Many serious battles ensured through which Captain McLeod was an outstanding leader of both men and tanks in extremely dangerous and difficult conditions. The tankers in "B" Squadron had faith that Captain Bob would look after them and he did. Discharged with the rank of major , Bob returned to civilian life in Penobsquis , married and was employed by the Veterans Land Act, becoming director for the Atlantic Provinces. he was deeply involved in the civic life of Hampton, with an abiding interest in the education of the youth. His motto was; "Be Useful-not just ornamental" Following the war Bob continued to serve with the 8th NB Hussars and was promoted Lieutenant Colonel and Commanding Officer 1954-1957 followed by Honorary Lieutenant Colonel 1989-19913. He was also instrumental in the selection of the 8th Hussars regiment being chosen by national Defense Headquarters and renamed the 8th Canadian Hussars (Princess Louise's) as the new regular Force Armoured Regiment in 1957 in response to the Cold War and NATO Needs.

McLeod, Harvey

Harvey McLeod is an offspring of a long-time military family.
Grandfathers - WW 1, Parents - WW 2, and his father was in the Regular Army to 1965 (8th Canadian Hussars)
Harvey served in Regular Army 1962 - 70. He has a long time interest in Military History with some university training in history.
Harvey has a large personal collection of military books - no real specialty along with a small personal collection of "militaria"

McLellan, Borden

Borden McLellan is a former member of the 8th Canadian Hussars. He worked for many years with C Squadron in Sackville, New Brunswick and spent time with the military in Ottawa. Borden now lives in Hampton, New Brunswick with his wife Barb and sits on the 8th Hussars Regimental Museum Board of Directors

McLean, Charles Wesley Weldon

Charles Wesley Weldon McLean was born 26 August 1882 in the City of Saint John. He would serve with the 8th Hussars prior to the outbreak of the Boer War. Thereafter, he transferred to the Imperial Army and served in South Africa with British Forces. He would be promoted Lieutenant. He was chosen by Major-General Colville to serve as his aide-de-camp. Lt. McLean returned home to Saint John for leave in 1900. He would be met at the train station by a military band and a host of dignitaries. Throngs lined the streets to greet the returning soldier. McLean would soon return to South Africa. He would also go on to serve in the Great War, where he would be promoted to Colonel. After the war, McLean resided in England, where he was be elected to the House of Commons for the riding of Brigg. McLean would die 5 September 1962.
