Molloy, Ellen

Ellen Molloy is the president of the Cody's Women's Institute. This Institute was founded in 1914 by a group of local woman. The woman assisted with the war effort in both the First and Second World Wars by sending soldiers care packages. In 2007, the ladies of the institute got together to publish a book of local war veterans who had served in the First and Second War. They compiled photographs and letters sent from the men to the Institute.

Huggard, Charles and Alleyne

Charles Huggard was born in Springfield< King's County NB on 9 November 1912. He enlisted with the Non-permanent Active Militia in 1928 serving until 1931. Subsequently, he reenlisted with the militia from 1934-1939. Thereafter, he enrolled in the Canadian Army (Active) Infantry Corps with the Princess Patricia Light Canadian infantry. He was promoted in 1940 to Company Quartermaster. He ended the Second World war as a Captain. During the Second World War, he served in Italy, France, and the Netherlands. He volunteered to join the Pacific Force in 1945. After World war II, he continued with the Regular Army, serving in Korea. He would be awarded the American Bronze Star for his actions during that conflict. Charles was promoted to Major in 1950 and continued serving until he was honourable discharged in 1963. Charles Huggard died in 1995, age 82.
Alleyne (Silver) Huggard, the wife of Charles, served with the Canadian Women's Army Corps (CWCA) during World War II. Alleyne was born 16 May 1921 in Galt Ontario. She enlisted 7 September 1942 in Toronto. She worked as a bookkeeper prior to the outbreak of the war. She was certified as 2/Lieutenant 29 July 1944 after completing the Officers Training Course.

Corbett, Lt. Col Otty

Lt.Col O. L. Corbett
"Otty Corbett was born Dec.13 1913 at Dunns Corner, Queens County. He married the former Marjorie Gamblin and they had two daughters and a son. He taught school from 1932-1940 and then entered the Canadian Army, serving the next six years in Canada, the United Kingdom, and northwest Europe.
While in the service he was stationed at base units and training camps in Canada, with the Carleton & York Regiment in England, the Fifth Canadian Infantry Brigade in England and the North Shore (N.B.)Regiment from 1944-1946 of which he was company commander and second-in-command of the battalion. He received his 2 Lieutenancy 18 November 1940.
He was the recipient of many honors and awards in a distinguished army career, and in the service of his community, including the MBE, Order of St. John of Jerusalem (Serving Brother), Canadian Forces Decoration and two bars, C.D., 1939-45 Star, France Germany Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, Defense Medal, Victory Medal, and the Silver Acorn from the Boy Scouts of Canada.
His militia service included: N.B. Rangers 1940-41; N.B. Scottish Regiment 1946-48; the Canadian Hussars (Princess Louise) Militia 1950-1965 as commanding officer for eight years; retired from active militia service in 1965; honourary Lt.-Col 8th Canadian Hussars (Princess Louise's) Militia for two terms.
He was named the Sussex and District chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 1980. He died March 10 1981"

Roberts, Frances S. (Allen)

Frances "Fannie" [Seymour / Seymore] Allen was born on 1 May 1878 in Upham, Kings County, New Brunswick. She was the daughter of Rev. Thomas Allen (1841-1936) and Mary Eliza (Bishop) Allen (1845-1932). She was educated in local schools. She was married to George Edward Theodore Goodridge Roberts (1877-1953) on 28 November 1903 in Albert County. The couple had the following children: William Goodridge (1904-1974), Dorothy Mary [Gostwick / Gostwycke] (1906-1993), and Theodora Frances Bliss (1909-1973). She died on 21 November 1968 in the Drew Nursing Home in Sackville, New Brunswick. She is buried in the Gray’s Island Cemetery in Hillsborough, New Brunswick.

Neal, Frederick John Jefferson

Frederick John Jefferson Neal was born in 1886 in London, England. After graduating from London University in 1912 he immigrated to Canada in 1914 to serve in the Methodist Church as a probationer on the St. Margaret’s Bay circuit. He entered Mount Allison University with the Class of 1920 and was ordained to the ministry in 1918 at Brunswick Street Church in Truro, Nova Scotia. In 1919 his fiancée, Elsie Mary Field, came to Canada and the couple was married at Mount Allison University in the Hart House Common Room by Rev. Dr. Hamilton Wigle. They had two children: Rowena (Class of 1940) and Frederick J. Neal Jr. (Class of 1950). Subsequently, Rev. Neal served churches in New Waterford, Nova Scotia and Cumberland County on the River Philip circuit before moving to the eastern United States. He returned to the Maritime Conference in 1953 when he served at Trinity United Church in Oxford, Nova Scotia and later as Presbytery supply with congregations in the vicinity of Saint John, New Brunswick. He regularly summered in St. Margaret’s Bay, Nova Scotia and after retirement resided in Saint Martins, New Brunswick. He received a Doctor of Divinity degree from Pine Hill Theological College in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1965. He died in April of 1969 in Saint John, New Brunswick.
